Welcome to Soundforest. We are dedicated to providing you with unforgettable moments in our beautiful, private, family-owned forest.
Join us for a wonderful outdoor evening where you will cook, dine, and immerse yourself in the lovely forest setting. Together, we will prepare amazing outdoor food using carefully selected local ingredients, organic produce, and natural flavors gathered directly from the forest. Prepared in true Finnish style over an open campfire, your meal can be enjoyed either inside a warm and cozy Laavu (lean-to) or at a beautifully decorated dining table.

Located in Keminmaa, within the Sea Lapland (Meri-Lappi) region, Metsäkahvila (Forest Café) invites travelers to Finnish Lapland to experience a tranquil, unique retreat. It offers local flavors, authentic Lappish cuisine, and pristine delicacies from Finnish nature, fostering a sense of community for friends and families.
More than just a café, Metsäkahvila provides guests with the opportunity to prepare their own outdoor meals over an open campfire. Guests can relax in a warm, inviting lean-to (laavu), unwind in hammocks, or explore the surrounding forest. Serving as an appealing destination, a communal gathering space, and a vital resting point for local hikers, it is an ideal spot to rest amidst nature.
Schedule & Availability
Metsäkahvila operates 1–2 times per month throughout the year. Specific opening hours are published on the café's social media channels and event page.
Access & Directions
Access to the café is convenient via the Kivalo hiking trail or its dedicated access road:
By Car: Parking is available at the hiking trail's designated area at Kivalontie 1698, 94500 Keminmaa, or in the café's private yard at Kivalontie 1650, 94500 Keminmaa.
Winter Access: A ski connection to the Kivalo hiking trail (Lautiosaari–Puukkokumpu) is available. Additionally, during winter months, a 1.5-kilometer forest path leads to the Kaljupää–Helkkunen hill, featuring engaging nature-themed activities along the route.

Facilities & Amenities
Metsäkahvila’s grounds are meticulously designed for maximum comfort and enjoyment:
Sheltered Dining & Campfires: A warm, sheltered lean-to with a fireplace, alongside a covered dining table accommodating approximately 25 seated guests and standing room for about 10 more.
Lounge Campfires: Two smaller campfire sites equipped with lounge chairs and side tables, suitable for eight individuals.
Relaxation Spaces: Hammocks, forest terraces, traditional yurts, as well as seating areas supplied with blankets and pillows for ultimate relaxation and sun-seeking.
Nature Activities: A selection of activities including drawing/painting supplies, nature games, "Metsä & Meditaatio" (Forest & Meditation) cards, magnifying glasses, and nature books.
Metsäkahvila offers a unique escape into the wilderness, seamlessly blending Lappish hospitality with the pristine beauty of Finnish nature.
