Lapland's winter beauty and pristine nature provide a unique stage for an ice fishing expedition to Lake Luohtojärvi. Situated approximately 35 kilometers from Kilpisjärvi in the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, Lake Luohtojärvi harbors an enchanting wilderness ambiance.
Located within the core zone of the great fells, the lake is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes in true Lappish style. During winter, the lake freezes, and the snow settling on its surface creates a magical white blanket across the environment. An ice fishing trip to Lake Luohtojärvi offers the opportunity to experience this beauty and the pristine natural surroundings.
The ice fishing expedition to Lake Luohtojärvi allows you to combine an active fishing experience with Lapland's stunning winter nature. This journey is a chance to enjoy the tranquility and peace that Lapland's wilderness offers during the winter season.
Accommodation: Kilpisafari's fishing base at Lake Luohtojärvi features four four-person cabins, one sauna, and two toilets.
Cabin facilities:
- Four beds with pillows and mattresses
- Dining table
- Gas heater with a thermostat
- Gas stove
- Basic utensils for cooking
The cabin's heater draws externally heated air, preventing the indoor air from becoming as moist as with traditional gas heating. The cabins share access to a toilet, sauna, ice auger, and, upon request, you can also get a few reindeer hides for the trip.
It's advisable to bring at least:
- Personal ice fishing and dining utensils
- Sunglasses
- Plenty of warm clothing
- Sleeping bag and sheets
- Toilet and household paper
Transportation: Kilpisafari facilitates transportation to Lake Luohtojärvi for fishermen. You can either book a sleigh ride for yourself and your belongings or hire a guide to assist those driving their own snowmobiles. One sleigh ride accommodates four people with their belongings – the residents and items of one cabin.
If you drive to the destination with your own snowmobiles or Kilpisafari's rental snowmobiles and transport the goods yourselves, you only need a guide. If you have a snowmobile at your disposal during the trip, you are free to ride within the Lake Luohtojärvi area without a separate permit.
