Sauna Day is celebrated on Saturday, June 8th. Finns and Estonians are jointly attempting to break the world record for sauna bathing. The Finnish Sauna Society has been commemorating the Finnish sauna on the second Saturday of June since 1986. Today, on Saturday, Finns and Estonians together are trying to break the Guinness World Record for sauna bathing.

The goal of the world record attempt is for a record number of people to declare that they are or have been in the sauna within the same hour (7–8 PM). Anyone can participate in the sauna record attempt by posting a picture on the event’s official Facebook page between 7 and 8 PM on Saturday.

Finland and Estonia share many pleasant customs and things, but the sauna tradition is certainly one of the most important and internationally well-known among them. With the record attempt we are organizing together, we want to remind the rest of the world of the significance and roots of the sauna," says Janne Koskenniemi, Executive Director of the Finnish Sauna Society
